INDEPENDENCE, MO – The Kansas City Mavericks hosted their annual FanFest at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena this past weekend. With the arena looking ready for ice (which went in on Monday), the arena was packed with fans anxious to see what the team would announce for the upcoming season; all the while enjoying time with old friends for the first time since April.
The Sin Bin was well represented, with Joe Rozycki, Ryan Gibson, and Adam Twenter anchoring a three-hour live broadcast on the Mavericks app. The trio hosted interviews with members of the Mavericks front office, assistant coach Kyle Hood, defensemen Tyler Elbrecht and Bryce Aneloski, and Have a Skate with Bob founder Bob Klem. Also, Twenter interviewed Elbrecht and Aneloski on the main stage in front of the Orange Army faithful that gathered.
The Mavericks made two announcements during the festivities. Vice President of Sales, Todd Mackin, announced live on The Sin Bin show that the team had partnered with Rally House to carry select Kansas City Mavericks merchandise for the upcoming season.
“We’re incredibly excited to have reached a deal with Rally House to carry Mavericks merchandise,” said Mavericks President and General Manager Brent Thiessen in a press release put out by the team. “We hope our fans across Kansas City will be able to benefit from increased access to team gear. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a fantastic relationship between the Mavericks and Rally House.”
The second announcement that has fans excited is a continuation of the team’s presence on television for the upcoming season. The Mavericks will return to KSMO for a ten-game “Friday Night Ice” slate for the 2017-18 season. Fans will have the opportunity to see nine different teams featured in games against the Mavericks this season. Joel Goldberg returns to the booth as the voice of those broadcasts, with Simon Watson again bringing the color analysis.
