Worcester, MA — After months of waiting and speculation, the Worcester Railers HC will announce their first NHL affiliate on Thursday evening.
The team will be paired with the New York Islanders. A formal announcement will be held at 7 pm ET. The news was first reported by Bill Ballou of the Worcester Telegram.
This marks another time in Worcester Hockey history that the New York Islanders have had organizational ties to Worcester. The IceCats were affiliated with the New York Islanders when Islanders’ owner Roy Boe owned the Worcester IceCats 1994 to 2001. Many former Worcester Hockey players have gone on to play for the NHL club, including Thomas Greiss and Bracken Kearns.
