WORCESTER, MA – The Worcester Railers announced their first-ever veteran signing Thursday morning, bringing aboard a familiar face to those familiar with Worcester pro hockey.
The team announced the signing of 11-year pro Ashton Rome. He is the first-ever player to have signed with Worcester Railers and have been a part of any previous Worcester pro hockey team.

Rome started his professional career with the Worcester Sharks. From 2006-09, he scored 15 goals and 11 assists for a total of 26 points in 128 games.
Rome joins the Railers with 11 years of professional hockey experience, having played for the Hershey Bears during their Calder Cup championship run in the 2009-10 season.
Recently, he played for the Manchester Monarchs last season. In 36 regular season games, he scored 12 goals and six assists for a total of 18 points, serving 59 penalty minutes and had a -12 rating. During their playoff run, he scored nine goals and three assists for a total of 12 points, with 17 penalty minutes and a -2 rating.
With the signing of Ashton Rome, the Worcester Railers currently have six players: three forwards, two defensemen, and a goaltender. The Railers are expected to receive five additional players from the New York Islanders before the start of the regular season.
