Toledo, OH — It has been announced that the Toledo Walleye will host the ECHL’s All-Star Classic in 2019.
Word first broke on Friday from Mark Monroe, a well-known sports writer in the Toledo area.
Sources confirm that the #Walleye will host the 2019 ECHL All-Star Classic. Game will be held in January 2019.

In a Press Release by the league, ECHL comissioner stated: “We are proud to bring our showcase event to Toledo. We look forward to bringing the best talent in the ECHL to entertain an enthusiastic fan base in a terrific facility. We look forward to working with the Walleye and CCM to produce an outstanding event.”
Walleye General Manager Neil Neukam also stated in the press release: “Fans have been wanting Toledo to host this event for years. The community support we saw during the first ECHL outdoor games in 2014 makes it very exciting to welcome back hockey fans from across the country. We also know these events wouldn’t be possible without the backing of the ECHL and our sponsors and we would like to thank CCM for their continued partnership and support.”
The announcement became official before Saturday’s Toledo Walleye game. Festivities will begin on Friday, January 18, 2019. Festivities will take place over four days and will include a Fan Fest, Youth Hockey Tournement, a brewfest, and will conclude with the Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic & Skills Showcase on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Ticket information and availability, along with sponsorship opportunities, will be announced at a later date.
It will be the first time the city has hosted the event.
