CEDAR PARK, TX – Wednesday night’s game in Cedar Park marked the first of a season-high seven-game road trip for the Manitoba Moose, who were coming off a big win on home ice over the weekend.
Eric Comrie got the start in the net for the Moose and looks to be the guy now that Ondrej Pavelec has been recalled by the Winnipeg Jets.
Manitoba got off to a good start when Quinton Howden scored his 9th of the season after stealing a puck and scoring his third shorty of the year. Still on the same power play, Gemel Smith beat Comrie for his seventh of the year to tie things at 1-1.
Early in the second with the man advantage, Brendan Lemieux converted a great feed by Chase De Leo for his 6th goal of the year. Just minutes after going up 2-1 the Moose turned over the puck and Julius Honka delivered his fifth of the year to square things at two.
Texas added two more in the third, when Jason Dickinson and Denis Gurianov each scored their sixth goals of the campaign.
The Moose added some late pressure and narrowed the Stars lead to one when Kyle Connor his fifth of the season, but they couldn’t find the equalizer in the last minute and drop a tough one to the Stars 4-3.
Landon Bow stopped 24 shots for Texas including a couple big saves late in the third with the Moose all over him. Comrie made 26 saves in the loss.
Next up for Manitoba will be a two-game weekend set with the San Antonio Rampage.
