READING, PA – The Reading Royals have released their 2017 preseason schedule. They will be taking on the Adirondack Thunder in a home-and-home set on Friday, October 6, and Sunday, October 8. It will be the first time since the 2015-16 season that the Adirondack Thunder will be appearing in a preseason game.
The set will open at the newly named Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York. Puck drop for this game is at 7 pm. Tickets will go on sale October 1, with the prices being $10 for adults and $5 for children under 14. Groups of 10-or-more can be purchased tickets for $5 as well. All seats for this game will be general admission.
This game will be the first time Thunder fans will see Brad Tapper as head coach of the team. Brad was named the second head coach in Adirondack Thunder history back on August 8th after Cail MacLean left the team to accept an assistant coaching job with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League. The former Atlanta Thrasher makes his return to the ECHL for the first time since the 2013-14 season when he was an assistant coach for the Orlando Solar Bears. For the past three seasons, he was up in the AHL as an assistant coach for the Chicago Wolves and the Rochester Americans.
Two days later, the scene will shift to Santander Arena in Reading with puck drop scheduled for 4 pm. For any fans seeking to attend this game, they are asked to donate a non-perishable food item with the proceeds going to help out the Greater Berks Food Bank. Just like the game up in Adirondack, seats for this game will also be general admission. During the game, the Royals will be having a 50-50 raffle with the proceeds going to benefit the Hurricane Harvey relief fund.
The Royals will break the ice on their 2017-18 regular season schedule at the Santander Arena on Saturday, October 21st against the Adirondack Thunder. The game is slated to get underway at 4 pm.
