SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon has been hard at work stocking up the NHL & AHL rosters for next season. On Sunday, the Panthers announced on Sunday they have signed forward Sebastian Repo to a three-year entry-level contract.
The 21-year old forward hails from Lahti, Finland.
Last season, he appeared in 46 games Tampere Tappara of Finland’s Liiga league, scoring 32 points (11G, 21A). He also appeared in eight games with the Lahti Pelicans, notching three assists. He also collected seven points in 18 games during the playoffs with Tampre, en route to the Liiga championship. Repo was tied for first in goals during the playoff run in the league.
Repo was called up to the Finnish second division, playing in four games with the Peliitat Heinola. There, he scored two goals and received two assists.
Prior to going back to Finland, Repo played 25 games with the Sioux City Musketeers during the 2014-15 campaign in the United States Hockey League where he scored six goals and collected nine assists (15 pts).
Repo was drafted in this year’s National Hockey League by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round 184th overall, and took part in Panthers Development Camp last week at the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs, FL with Springfield Thunderbirds forwards Matt Buckles, Jayce Hawryluk, Dryden Hunt, and Juho Lammikko along with defenseman Mike Downing and Thomas Schemitsch along with other Florida Panthers prospects including Owen Tippett.
The Springfield Thunderbirds will return for their second season at the MassMutual Center with the 2017-18 home opener on Saturday, October 14.
