MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs have clinched a playoff spot in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with a 4-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals on Sunday at SNHU Arena. The Monarchs completed their season series with the Jackals, winning eight out of 14 meetings.

The Jackals got on the scoreboard 12:10 in the first period. The Jackals set up a two-on-one where Nathan Moon found Anthony Stefano and Stefano put it in with the backhand past Monarchs goaltender Charles Williams to go up 1-0.

A little over halfway of the second period Kevin Morris tied the game for the Monarchs with a power-play goal. David Kolomatis fired a wrist shot and Morris put home the rebound past Jackals goaltender Jason Kasdorf as Morris scored his 15th goal of the year to tie it at 1-1.

Mario Puskarich gave the Monarchs the lead when forward Tyler Sikura found Puskarich and sent in a wrist past Kasdorf to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.

Davis Vandane tied the game for the Jackals with a four-on-three power play. Matt Stanisz found Vandane and put it in with a one-timer to score his 11th of the year to tie it at 2-2.

Zac Lynch scored the game-winning goal on a three-on-two when Joe Diamond found Daniel Doremus. Doremus fired a shot as the puck trickled with Lynch going to the net and put it home to give the Monarchs a 3-2 lead.

Diamond gave the Thunderbirds insurance with an empty-net goal and his 23rd of the season to make it 4-2.

The Monarchs will travel to Adirondack to take on the Thunderbirds on Tuesday at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The puck will drop at 7:00 pm Eastern Time.
