INDIANAPOLIS, IN – September is a busy time in the hockey off-season. The Indy Fuel have been up to all kinds of trouble this month, making several announcements that can be found in one, easy to read space on The Sin Bin.

Captain Miskovic is Back

Everyone kind of saw this coming. You can’t hear Indy Fuel without thinking Zach Miskovic. The defenseman has spent the last two seasons in the Fuel uniform, wearing the captain’s “C” for both seasons. Miskovic moved his family to Indianapolis prior to last season and quickly became a fan favorite because of the time he made for fans on and off the ice.

Rookie Additions

The Fuel added rookies, Jack Burton and Darby Llewellyn. Burton returns to Indianapolis after he appeared in four games with the Fuel last year while on an amateur tryout (ATO). The 6-3 defenseman attended Colby College (NCAA Div. III), where he appeared in85 games with the Mules. Burton registered 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) and 76 penalty minutes.

Llewellyn makes the move to Indianapolis after playing five seasons for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League, serving as the club’s alternate captain from 2015-17. In over 300 games for the Rangers, Llewellyn compiled 171 points (95 goals, 76 assists). A native of Ann Arbor, MI, Llewellyn played for the Belle Tire Bantam Major AAA organization as well the HoneyBaked U16 program.

New Uniforms Again

The Fuel will be wearing new uniforms for the second year in a row. Last season, the team went to a more simple, better looking version of the original jersey with the pennant collar. This season, the Fuel will be embracing the Blackhawks affiliation by wearing matching jerseys to their NHL and AHL affiliate. The release of EA Sports NHL 18 leaked the new uniforms.

Groundhogs Preseason?

Another year, another pair of preseason games against the Fort Wayne Komets. The two teams will play their first of two games at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 6 before heading to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for a second exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 7.
