Hershey,PA – Today the Hershey Bears broke through the slow summer with a new player signing.  The team announced today that 6’2″ defenseman Tommy Hughes will be joining the Bears on a one-year AHL contract.

The 25-year-old has been a member of the Hartford Wolfpack since the 2013-2014 season.  In 226 games for the Wolf Pack, Hughes has registered five goals and 30 assists.  He scored the decisive overtime goal in game five against Providence in the first round of 2015.

We are now just over a month away from the Bears pre-season games on September 27th against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  Players are trickling back to Washington in preparation from training camp and hockey is just around the corner.  NHL roster spots are up for grabs and will likely see a few Bears on the opening night roster for the Washington Capitals.  Stay tuned to @SinbinBears on twitter for the latest.
