Heading into the season, the ECHL Mountain Division was billed as one of the toughest divisions in the ECHL, as well as one of the most competitive. It certainly has lived up to the billing so far this season, in both capacities.
Entering the 2018 trade deadline, the Central Division is in a unique spot. Dominated by two teams, the Toledo Walleye and Ft. Wayne Komets, four teams are in the midst of a battle to win the remaining two playoff spots.
Entering this trade deadline, the class of the division has been the Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays. Florida punched their ticket to the Kelly Cup Playoffs in resounding fashion on February 28, while the Stingrays are very close to joining their Estero-based counterparts.
