We are putting the finishing touches on “Best Of” Week here at The Sin Bin! This week, we have been paying homage to the fine work done by our wonderful team during the 2016-17 hockey season.
It goes without saying, but Team Sin Bin is comprised of some of the hardest working people covering minor pro hockey in North America. Each member of our team works diligently with their teams to break news, cover events and games, as well as bring you the reaction from those events.
In the final installment in the “Best Of” series, we announce the winner of our Writer of the Year award. The award was voted on by the editorial team, fellow Team Sin Bin writers, and photographers.
Our inaugural winner of the Writer of the Year award is Chad Boerth.
Chad joined Team Sin Bin in September 2016 and has quickly left his mark on our team. Chad shows a great deal of pride in being a writer for The Sin Bin, is willing to be put in the work to become a better writer and he has an uncanny ability to reach his fan base in a different capacity in each piece his writes. Whether it is a game wrap or an April Fools muse, Chad’s passion for the game and to tell the Solar Bears’ story shows through in every single piece he produces.
Chad’s best piece came in February, when he wrote a powerful piece about life on the autistic spectrum. Chad bears his soul out to discuss how hockey has helped ease his anxiety in large crowds, sirens, and other social challenges. It is one of the best pieces we have run in the history of our website.
Congratulations, Chad, on this well-deserved honor! We look forward to having you on our team for many years to come!
