“Best of” Week continues here at The Sin Bin! This is the week where we take the time to publicly acknowledge the best work done by our wonderful team during the 2016-17 hockey season.
It goes without saying, but Team Sin Bin is comprised of some of the hardest working people covering minor pro hockey in North America. Each member of our team works diligently with their teams to break news, cover events and games, as well as bring you the reaction from those events.
In today’s installment in the “Best of,” we announce the winner of our Photographer of the Year award. The award was voted on by the editorial team, writers, and fellow Team Sin Bin photographers.
Our inaugural winner of the Photographer of the Year award is Sarah Hobday.
Sarah covered 61 games between the ECHL, AHL, and NHL this season, visiting 11 different arenas. While the Norfolk Admirals are her primary team to shoot (she did 33 Admirals games last season,) Sarah also drives to other sites and shoot games. Her “home away from home” this season was the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, SC, where she shot 11 South Carolina Stingrays games, including the final two games of the 2017 Kelly Cup Finals.
In addition, Sarah provided The Sin Bin coverage of the 2017 Calder Cup Finals, by shooting games three and four of the championship series in Syracuse, NY.
There is no doubt Sarah has a love for her craft and loves bringing you the game through her lens. We are incredibly indebted to Sarah for her hard work, long nights putting photo galleries together and are blessed beyond measure to have her on our team.
Congratulations, Sarah, on this well-deserved honor!
Later today, we will reveal The Sin Bin Writer of the Year!
